BIEK Karachi was established on 1st February, 1974. Before the partition of subcontinent, the control of Secondary and Intermediate resided with the University of Bombay.
Post partition in 1974, the control was split in between BSEK (Board of Secondary Education Karachi) and BIEK (Board of Intermediate Education Karachi). Then in 1974 BIEK conducted its first H.S.C exams with 51, 000 candidates and 50 colleges.
Today, BIEK stands tall with 358 affiliated colleges under its umbrella. Their current office is sited in Bakhtiyari Youth Center, North Nazimabad, Karachi.
The board deals with 11th and 12th grades in pretty much all disciples. i.e. Home Economics, Humanities, Commerce, and Science Groups (FSc, ICOM, ICS etc.). This rather lavish choice of disciplines to choose from provides student to pursue their cup of tea and excel. Conventional subjects like Sindhi, English, Urdu, Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat are compulsory.
The board accepts admission for both regular and private students. The curriculum and exam papers followed by BIEK is drafted by senior-most teachers and faculties.
The board posts statistics of hosted examinations and their respective results. Date sheets, Model Paper and scheme of studies etc. are posted for the convenience and expediency of students.
BIEK possesses its own board of directors comprising of chairpersons of BIEK, BSEK, BISE Hyderabad, SBTE Karachi, BISE Sukkur, BISE Mirpurkhas etc. For analogy and comparability. The board also has three committees viz. Academic, Finance and Appointment Committees. Their role is pretty self-explanatory.
They board has dispensed its responsibilities across the board for better functioning, administration and supervision. The board claims that they have highly proficient professors and instructors to ensure transparent examinations.
BIEK has been and further aims to provide supreme and unmatched education and examinations to the public. They wish to see a prosperous and well-rounded country ahead and that the most resourceful way to do so is by molding the youth into well-versed and versatile adults. BIEK hosts a lot of sports and co-curricular activities to keep the students occupied in friendly and constructive competition. Through these the students obtain an insight to the importance and prominence of sports in our diurnal life.
Alongside sports Science Exhibitions and Galas are also hosted to witness the creativity and inventiveness of our future to be. This hoists a positive image of Pakistan in eyes of locals and international communities and it is through these events that these virtuosos and prodigies gain recognition, gratification, and sense of fulfilment.
BIEK also anchors medal and award distribution ceremonies annually where their best minds are called alongside the head of their respective institutions and acknowledged. This boosts their confidence and gives them a moral head start that the future ahead of them is brighter and abounding.
The BIEK website houses a helpdesk and all fundamental downloadable forms so as to create ease for its students. Result cancellation, migration, enrolment, registration forms and so on are present accessible to students.
A notifications tab is also provided for the transmission of news and updates to the students at their earliest convenience. A mobile application is also developed that encapsulate the same functionality but at your fingertips.
