Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Dera Ismail Khan was found in 2006. BISE DI Khan is one of the most famous educational boards of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Board came under the supervision of KPK. DI khan Board started its functioning as a supervisory body in year of 2003. After this in 2006 it was made a separate board and was declared as an autonomous body. Since then DI Khan Board started its own independent journey till time. Now it acts as an important and well reputed educational organization in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
BISE DI Khan is now fulfilling its duty to render their service in the educational sectors of KPK and Pakistan. BISE DI Khan is working under the administration of Ministry of Education, Pakistan Board is proving to be a responsible set up in a quite effective way to raise the standards of education and to improve the literacy rate in the country. Board olds the exams of those institutes that are affiliated with it in the radar and its territories areas.
BISE DI Khan is situated on the west bank of Indus River the areas that surround this region have fairly low literacy rate. It has two districts and one agency like of BISE Bannu. The two districts and one agency are District Dera Ismail Khan and its FATA regions, Districts Tank and its FATA regions and South Waziristan Agency (S.W.A). these districts are solely and completely under the control of BISE DI Khan.
The FATA areas are the tribal agencies that are disputed but they share and enjoy the facility of education and examination of Pakistan; also these areas are tribal and rural so the literacy rate is low but all the differences BISE DI Khan is providing the best of their services in maintaining high and quality educational as well as examinational standards. BISE DI Khan is responsible to conduct exams of classes 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, FSC, ICOM and ICS and related affairs. These exams are held mid-year and the result is announced three months after the examinations are held.

The results are first displayed here than a hard copy of DMCs and certificates are given to respective candidates by their respective educational institutes. DI Khan Board is responsible for directing annual exams of primary and middle. After a couple of months of exams, results are declared by the board and awards are granted to the high achievers. Sports activities and other extra curriculum activities are promoted by DI Khan Board.
Like all the other boards it is the sworn duty for BISE DI Khan to enable and arrange for sports and extracurricular activities. This is having always been proven beneficial to enlighten students about the benefits of sports and physical activities to boost their skill in many other ways. Inter district sports championships are held and students from the districts readily participate in this occasion.
