The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa established under ordinance ACT 1990, is an autonomous body of the Ministry of Education.
It is empowered with administrative and financial authority to organize, regulate, develop and control Intermediate and Secondary Education, and conduct examinations in the institutions affiliated with it. BISE Mardan is in the province of KPK. The areas that come under its jurisdiction are Districts of Mardan, Nowshera, and Swabi.
BISE Mardan is responsible to withhold the examinations in these sector and also to supervise the curriculum of education. The classes that pass through examination are 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th (Matriculation), 11th and 12th (Intermediate). Examinations are conducted mid-year and the result is announced after two to three months.
Before the annual exams, Board is also responsible to issue roll no slips and date sheets for the students. Both of these are done with collaboration of educational institutes. BISE Mardan practices its capacity to direct and keep up Academic control, both in Public and Private Educational establishments, through the aggregate endeavors of its essential sections.

Sports is also an important function that BISE Mardan hosts in its region. Various sports championships are held and participated. Students are able to enjoy this time and learn to interact through a different aspect. Having a physical exercise is beneficial for the mind and body.
The students who are able to perform splendidly in examinations and championships are rewarded accordingly. A ceremony is conducted for prize distribution in which high government officials are chief guest. These social events are common and are helpful in expanding the circle for students.
